About Us

Grassroots Coffee opened its doors in 2009 in Thomasville, GA by Spencer and Megan Young, along with business partner Ed Millere. Grassroots Coffee started roasting and serving coffee in a small coffee shop downtown. Our small 10-lb roaster sat at the front entrance as customers came through the door. The tiny coffee shop did not allow for customers to mingle and relax and we soon outgrew the space. The old coffee shop is now the home to Sweet Grass Dairy Cheese Shop!

We moved across the street to the new coffee shop in 2013. With more space and a kitchen, we were able offer a full breakfast and lunch menu and customers had space to have business meetings, study, or just relax. We moved the roaster into the back of the coffee shop giving it a dedicated space for roasting and packaging. That’s when our wholesale business was born. We started supplying a few local restaurants and grocery stores with our coffee. After the growth of our wholesale division, it was time to the find our roaster and permanent home…..no more unloading 200-pound bags of beans in the middle of Broad Street!

The roaster and wholesale division moved across town to a 6,000 SF warehouse with a loading dock! In addition, we added a 30-pound roaster along and a lot of other neat packaging equipment! We can now roast and package 75 pounds per hour with our upgraded equipment and wholesale team. Today we are located in over 200 retails stores, restaurant
