Log Scaler

Are you looking for a career in the forest products industry? We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Log Scaler to join a growing team. This position plays a critical role in inspecting, measuring, weighing, and recording log deliveries while ensuring accuracy and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers and truck drivers.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and weigh incoming and outgoing log trucks

• Record weight, supplier, and inventory information accurately

• Estimate log lengths and stem counts

• Inspect logs for defects, quality, and compliance with specifications

• Communicate log deductions and quality concerns when necessary

• Direct truck traffic entering and leaving the facility

• Prepare daily and weekly reports

• Assist with inventory counts and scale house operations

• Maintain a clean and organized work area

• Provide excellent customer service to truck drivers and suppliers

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with at least 1 year exp in log purchasing or Assoc. Degree

• Ability to use a computer and enter data accurately

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• Ability to perform basic math calculations

• Must be certified or be able to obtain Weigh Master certification

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday

• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl

• Lift up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs as needed

• Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
