Position Overview:
Centek Marine seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee a team of 5-10 engineers. This leader will bring structure, prioritization, accountability, and coaching to a capable technical team and help ensure the group operates in a more organized, efficient, and scalable way. The top priority is leading the team well: allocating workloads, setting priorities, removing obstacles, improving process discipline, coaching team members, and raising the overall consistency and quality of output. A candidate with enough technical credibility to earn the respect of engineers and customers will be most successful, but deep marine-industry experience is not required.
This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects from concept to completion following the Centek engineering process, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, production schedules, safety standards, and applicable marine regulations. The Engineering Manager will provide day-to-day technical leadership, supervise and mentor engineers and designers, review all key designs and templates prior to release, and drive continuous improvement and innovation across Centek’s engineering processes. Strong communication skills, leadership ability, technical skills, and a commitment to quality, compliance, and structured processes are essential to succeed in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of engineers and designers, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
- Set clear expectations, priorities, and development plans for team members, aligned with Centek’s values and business objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering issues, problem solving, and decision-making.
- Ability to set clear expectations for timeliness, quality, and team contribution and hold team accountable for results.
- Build cross-training and knowledge-sharing between exhaust and ventilation specialists.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Oversee the execution of engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to process, schedule, quality standards, and customer expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize Centek’s pre-established engineering processes, workflows, and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in engineering design and development.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
- Communicate project status, issues, and risks to both customers and internal senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex projects from requirements through handoff to manufacturing or implementation.
- Excellent communication skills—able to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple inquiries and projects simultaneously in a structured, process-driven environment.
- Proven ability to effectively manage resource allocation, workload balancing, and project prioritization to meet business objectives.

- Engineering experience is preferred, especially within the marine, mechanical, automotive, or aerospace industry.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and comfort working with detailed models and drawings as part of the design and quoting process.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn Epicor (or similar ERP) and CRM.
Travel & Work Environment
- Role is based at Centek Marine’s Thomasville, GA facilities
- Occasional domestic and international travel to customer sites, shipyards, and key meetings may be required for complex projects and strategic accounts.
