General Manager - Grassroots Coffee Company
The General Manager is a foundational role of the Grassroots Coffee Company experience at our Coffee Shop in downtown Thomasville, Ga. This position is responsible for oversight of team members and operations of the Coffee Shop, first-contact for catering customers, developing effective working relationships, maintaining systems and procedures, using Quickbooks, driving industry trends where appropriate for both kitchen and bar departments, completing inventory, passing ServSafe, and ensuring clean, organized, health-inspection ready spaces. This position will heavily rely on consistency, accuracy, speed, and positive energy. As a hands-on supervisory position, the candidate will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires multi-tasking, initiative, energy, attention to detail, follow-through, ability to communicate clearly and work well with others.

Direct supervisor of Assistant General Manager(AGM) with oversight of all team members

Prioritizes growth of catering program, streamlines processes, executes events

Streamlines delivery processes, creates new relationships with businesses to grow sales, further developing program

Scheduling team member work hours with appropriate labor force coverage based on historical customer volume

Inventory of product in house, auditing and costing ingredients to align with order guides

Shares communication with Director of Operations (upchanneling) and coffee shop team (downchanneling) in a timely manner

Addresses coffee shop issues with a sense of urgency

Helps meet strategic plan goals for sales, financial stewardship and team member satisfaction

Knowledge of COGS (Cost-of-Goods-Sold) and best practices to help control/reduce costs

Help drive sales to meet strategic plan goals

Identify training needs and opportunities for bakery, barista, and kitchen teams

Train and coach health, safety, and sanitation guidelines with all teams

Execute exciting training programs for baristas, kitchen, and bakery teams

Manages procedures, policies, protocols and communicates to rest of the teams

Maintain organization of shop alongside teams, work with team on receiving and checking in product

Openly and thoroughly communicate to all team members, working with the AGM in all policy changes, procedural changes

Be an ally to the business and an advocate for the teams

First-point of contact for catering customers and vendors; engage with them enthusiastically and eagerly

Monitor payroll and audit tip share program

Audit checklists, temp logs, prep lists, recipes, menu builds, and waste logs for completion

Schedule trainings, team meetings, huddles, all-team-clean days and special events

Integral in performance reviews - comfortable giving critical feedback in real time compassionately with all teams and departments

Works with AGM on new specials and holiday menu items

POS management and organization

Knowledge of our breakfast and lunch food menu options and Grab ‘N’ Go program

Knowledge of traditional and Grassroots Coffee Company signature espresso, coffee, tea, smoothie, and holiday drink offerings

Prioritize the customer experience with self awareness and attentiveness

Money handling, deposit tracking, anticipating change for petty cash bank

Utilizes Quickbooks for purchase orders, inventory, and other appropriate bookkeeping tasks

Actively participates in online trainings around professional developments to refine management and leadership skills

- Ability/aptitude to work with various kitchen equipment (ovens, processors, mixers, knife handling) and others as curated through our food programs - though training will be provided on specifics
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistent results
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously
- Ability to utilize strong problem solving skills and develop new ideas and solutions to problems
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to read and use a Square POS system
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to multitask and adjust priorities with a sense of urgency
- Management experience in coffee shop highly preferred
- Candidates will also be considered with restaurant experience or in a similar fast-paced environment
- 3 - 5 years management experience preferred
