Marine Blanket Fabricator
Position Overview: We are seeking skilled and experienced industrial sewing machine operator/pattern maker. You will be responsible for making patterns and insulation blankets for marine exhaust pipes. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the proper construction and functionality of the patterns and blankets. Attention to detail, precision sewing skills, ability to read drawings, and a strong understanding of maintenance and repair on industrial sewing machines are crucial for success in this position.
- Create patterns from drawings and/or sample parts.
- Prepare materials by cutting, measuring, and arranging fabric pieces prior to sewing.
- Operate sewing machine to sew, stitch and assemble insulation blankets.
- Perform routine maintenance and necessary repairs on sewing machines.
- Inspect finished products for defects to ensure quality standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with all equipment, materials, and tools.
- Keep accurate records of production activities, materials used, and inspection results.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate any replenishment needs to the appropriate personnel.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as an industrial sewing machine operator working in tailoring and textiles a plus
- Strong knowledge in industrial sewing machine maintenance and repair
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality products
- Good hand-eye coordination and concentration skills
- Be able to identify issues and make necessary adjustments to avoid waste and rework
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective communications skills, ability to collaborate with others and listen and take direction.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to work in various work environments including hot temperatures.
