MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience working with children and families in a religious setting, Masters preferred.  Must have completed at least one unit of clinical pastoral training or receive within one year of employment.  Preference is given to candidates with a background in a Methodist tradition.
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
 
The Chaplain will develop and implement a plan of spiritual and moral formation in the Christian tradition utilizing a variety of in-house programs and local faith-based partnerships.  The Chaplain will organize and supervise the mentor and volunteer programs, assuring compliance with regulatory expectations.  The Chaplain will also serve as an ambassador for Vashti, sharing the Vashti story and mission while building partnering relationships with the faith community in South Georgia. 
 
SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Provide pastoral care and counseling for youth through establishing trusting relationships and being a regular presence on campus.
Develop a holistic personal development/growth plan for each consumer within 7 days of entry into the RBWO program and update quarterly on an on-going basis until consumer is discharged.
Plan and make arrangements for youth to attend worship services in the local community, building  relationships with congregations of various denominations. 
Work cooperatively with local churches and para-church ministries to include our youth in their programs and special activities such as vacation bible school, youth meetings, outings and service opportunities. 
Organize and oversee a comprehensive mentoring program to include training to mentors and consumers.
Lead a weekly bible study on campus for each cottage.
Coordinate/facilitate recreational activities for our youth.
Supervise and expand the church-related volunteer program.
Participate in networking opportunities with local ministerial networks such as Community Transformation, Inc. or similar groups. 
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or agreed upon with supervisor.

15. Bi-Annual CPR/First Aid training
16. Annual Safety/Crisis Planning training
17. Annual Fire Safety training
18. Annual Emergency and Disaster Preparedness training
19. Annual Medications and Side Effects training
20.  Each RBWO staff member should have 24 hours of training not to include Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention or CPR/First Aid. 
 
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Work cooperatively with staff to enhance morale, build a sense of community and reinforce Vashti staff’s accomplishments. 
Share observations and suggestions with the staff regarding the program and their care of consumers.
Recruit and train mentors in relationship to established policies and procedures.
Train support and supervisor volunteers, assuring proper orientation, training and evaluations.
As requested by the Executive Director and/or Associate Director, speak to groups, agencies or individuals on behalf of Vashti for fundraising or public relations purposes.
As requested by the Executive Director and/or Associate Director, represent Vashti at regional church annual conferences of the United Methodist or Global Methodist Church.
Be an advocate for the spiritual side of Vashti’s mission, helping the staff to appreciate these foundations and meaningfully integrate the spiritual into our holistic care of the consumers
Attend staff trainings and workshops as required by regulations.
Represent Vashti in a professional manner at all times.
