JOB TITLE: Paraprofessional
DEPARTMENT: Clubhouse
SUPERVISOR: Clubhouse Manager
PAY SCALE: 14.00
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must at least be twenty-one (21) years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, pass fingerprinting background check, must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. At least two years of previous experience working with children and mental health is preferred.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Paraprofessional assures that the basic needs of the consumers in the Clubhouse are met and provides necessary supervision and individual attention. The Paraprofessional serves as role model, and as such communicates and interprets the basic philosophy, policies, rules, programs, and procedures of the program of care. Other duties of the Paraprofessional include but are not limited to maintaining Clubhouse cleanliness, participation in recreational activities, and transportation of consumers in care. The Paraprofessional must always stay in a 1 to 10 ratio (one Paraprofessional to every ten Consumers).
SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implements structure and rules through supervision and guidance of consumers.
2. Assists new consumers in becoming familiar with the Clubhouse program.
3. Provides transportation of consumers as directed by supervisor.
4. Assists staff in developing solutions to individual Clubhouse wide problems.
5. Maintains cleanliness and structure as directed by supervisor.
6. Participates in physical restraints of consumers when necessary
7. Works in a team relationship with supervisors and other Paraprofessionals.
8. Participates in consumer recreational activities at and off the Clubhouse.
9. Completes necessary documentation thoroughly and as directed by supervisor.
10. Reinforces the positive behaviors of consumers in the Clubhouse.
11. Remains calm and therapeutic in tense situations.
12. Consistently works posted schedule without call-ins, tardiness, or early quits.
13. Cooperates with schedule changes and is available to work in a crisis or when other Paraprofessional staff is unable to work their posted schedule.
14. Follows appropriate protocol when unable to work posted schedule.
15. Will prepare snacks and meals for consumers per menu daily.
16. Demonstrates a professional attitude through dress, demeanor, and communication.
17. Assists other staff in all aspects of day to day tasks as needed.

16. Annual Safety/Crisis Planning training
17. Annual Fire Safety training
18. Annual Emergency and Disaster Preparedness training
19. Annual Medications and Side Effects training
20. May be required to attend DBHDD trainings
21. Admin staff members should have 16 hours of training per year.
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in required meetings and in-service training
2. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
3. Represents Vashti in a professional manner at all times
