Medical Director

JOB TITLE:              Medical Director

HOURS:                    Direct Service: 8 hours per week
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Licensed to practice medicine in Georgia.
Five years experience in child medicine preferred.
Knowledgeable of the standards of his own profession, competent in ethical standards congruent with the bylaws, rules, regulations and standards of The Vashti Center, the Georgia Department of Human Resources as well as the Division of Mental Health, Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. 
COMPETENCIES:
 
1.         Current in knowledge of psychotropic medications, contraindications, side effects,                        etc. related to psychopharmacology with children and adolescents.
3.         Possesses strong professional writing skills.
 
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Provide management of prescribed psychotropic medication and supervision of psychotropic medication administered to the consumers of Vashti. 
Evaluates, prescribes, and monitors all psychotropic medications. Works with facility staff and families to assure safety and well-being of medicated consumers. 
Reviews and signs all applicable forms, reports, and summaries as directed by service reimbursement entities. 
Be available by cell phone for emergency consultation. 
Required to work 1 full day or 2 half days of direct service via in person or telehealth.
